Adam and his team made what should have been a VERY bad day into a surprisingly good one. They were very honest, and chose to simply help a stranger out instead of taking advantage of me as an out-of-towner stuck in their town. They even helped get the carseats back in the van! Obviously, I don't want my vehicle to break down along 35 on a road trip. But if it ever happens again, I hope it's in Clear Lake so I can have Adam and his team help me out again. Thanks guys!

My Honda Odyssey broke down in a cloud of transmission fluid a bit north of Clear Lake while I was heading to Omaha with my two young kids. I pulled up Lake Auto Service on my phone and gave them a call since they had a five star rating. The owner, Adam, answered and was extremely friendly and understanding of my stressful situation with a 3-year old and 7-month old stranded roadside on a 100 degree day. He lined up a tow from a trustworthy company and came to pick us up, carseats and all so we wouldn't be stuck in the heat.
Adam and his employees were all very nice and held the doors for us, switched the shop TV to cartoons for my kids and said they'd get to my van ASAP since I was traveling. The lobby and bathroom were super clean and they had good coffee! Adam mentioned a few places nearby if we were hungry and even offered us a ride. The shop is two blocks from the Surf Ballroom, which was a fun detour with the family.
These guys are polite, professional and trust worthy! Had to stop with an engine issue traveling through and they got us in immediately and got us back on the road as soon as possible. Reliable, affordable service. Don't think twice about stopping here!

After an hour of cleaning up and inspecting the van, Adam let me know that he'd looked into several used and new transmissions for me with all the costs laid out, all of which were more expensive than I'd bought the old van for. Instead of starting the repair and leaving us stranded and out thousands of dollars, he said they'd topped off the fluid and made sure there was no leak after driving it around a bit. He said they'd be more than happy to get the transmission replaced ASAP, but said that he's seen transmissions in Odysseys and several other makes of vehicles that are prone to leaking fluid when it's very hot. He said that while there certainly could be damage, I could possibly make it back to Minneapolis or even to Omaha by taking it easy and to see how it worked on the interstate and check in if I had trouble. Then he wouldn't charge me anything and wished me good luck for the rest of the drive with the kids. I was able to make it home with no issues!
