The electrician shows up at 11 AM! I'm just glad I work from home but it was difficult to work with all the noise that was going on, plus I was in meetings. After about an hour, they left for 1.5 hours, returned after 2 PM to finish the work. Most of the time that I observed them working, the electrician was educating and re-doing the work of the journeyman.
In the past Larry Jacobson did work on our properties. I knew he retired a few years ago, so I was curious to meet the new owner. David was prompt and on time to give me an estimate. My first impression; David's an outstanding and friendly young man. He offered to simply charge me time and materials on our small project. He also 'guestimated" that it would take 40 hours total and $1500 in materials. Sounded reasonable, and I gave him the go ahead. David called two weeks later on a Friday to give me a heads up that they would begin on the following Monday. Jeff and David arrived Monday morning around 7:30, and after a quick meet and greet and brief refresher walk-though, the two got right to work. They were chatty through the day but they were non-stop working machines. Very professional. It was immediately apparent that they were both very skilled. Extremely efficient. They worked till 5pm or so, came back the next morning and went straight to work. By 3pm they were packed up and gone without a trace. Swept, vacuumed, cleaned up like they were never here. 3 weeks later I received a pleasant surprise. David had given me a ball park of 40 hour ($2000.00) in labor and $1500 in materials. I saw $1690 for 32.5 hours on the invoice and $1240 in materials. $570 less than I was quoted. I cant say enough, Jacobson Electric exceeded my expectations. I would and will refer them to anyone and everyone.
I would highly recommend Jacobson Electric. They were very responsive to our call and worked around our schedule to set up the appointment. Jordan and Josiah were just terrific - professional, polite and efficient. They did a great job cleaning up after the job was completed even after we said we would take care of it. Thanks to Dave for leading such a great team!
I then had to call them to return because when I would run the dryer, a breaker would blow (even though they installed a new breaker for the dryer line). Took 3 days to get a call back, with me leaving a voicemail every day for 3 days. Same electrician returned, said his boss would have to come check it out, but he was out of the office on vacation. Took another week and half to get a call from the owner (after multiple voicemail messages left by me). Owner says he will stop by after 2 pm the following day. I cleared my schedule and stayed home that next afternoon.....no show or call. Took 2 more days to get a call back that was riddled with excuses about being busy.
Finally work was completed and is now working great!! Only plus to all of this!!
Update: Never did hear back from David regarding my inquiries about the invoice. So I proactively mailed payment via certified mail, it was never claimed. Over a month later he is now calling stating he is taking me to court. Very VERY poor company. I miss the days when Larry owned Jacobson Electric.
Terrible, dishonest ownership! They charged for work that was not complete and threatened to take me to court over it! Stay away!
In detail:
I get my invoice....$2 a foot wire turns out to be $3.80 a ft for 80 ft. I am being charged for 2 hours of labor for the first visit and 4.25 hours for the 2nd visit plus being charged for a person who was never at my house. The electrician was only at my home for 2.75 hours. I spoke with the owner who questioned who quoted me $2 a foot for the wire, and when I told him he did, he sounded shocked. Then questioned how I knew how long his workers were actually at my house?? Said he would check time cards and call me back by the next day. Over a week has passed, I have called and left more messages, and no return call from them. I am very disappointed in this entire experience. I just hope that my review will save someone else a major headache :(
Hired them to run a 220 outlet for a dryer in my basement. Informed the electrician twice to be aware of the laundry shoot that was very close to breaker box. Total time in my home was 20 min. Bad: They ran the wire through the center of the laundry shoot, so I had to relocate the wire (poor attention to detail). I was also billed for 2 hours of labor for 20 minutes of work. (Fraudulent billing practice).
In a nut shell: very poor response to inquiries, poor customer service, lack of attention to detail, and fraudulent billing practices.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. I should of done more research on this company before hiring them. Company is no longer owned by Larry Jacobson.
Finally, same electrician as before, returned with his journeyman in tow to re-run a new line from my garage to basement. Owner said work would take about 2 hours (without seeing my home, as he never did come by) and the line would be $2 a foot. I informed the owner that I would not be available until after 2 pm for the work to start, no problem stated the owner.
